Dog Training Tools and Hand Signals for Dog Training

Posted by: Benjie  /  Category: Dog Training Tools

Dogs are widely considered as one of the most popular pets out there. In fact they have gone from being just a pet to an actual part of the family.

One of the reasons why people love dogs is because of the fact that they can be trained.   The owners themselves, with just a bit of knowledge about dog obedience training and the right dog training tools can actually train their pet dogs right at home without the need for a trainer or guide.

Dogs are very perceptive and intuitive creatures. They are also very good at reading a person’s body language, think back to the times when you were feeling upset, how did you dog react? Because of that sensitivity, they can easily learn hand signals as well as verbal commands. But of course, the difficulty in training comes with the type of dog you have as some are easier to train than others.

There are many different dog training tools in the market, but the owner needs to take into consideration the fact that not all of them are appropriate for all dogs.  Some dog training tools are more appropriate for big dogs, and could indeed harm small dogs if used on them.  That is why it is important to also know how to train a dog with hand signals and not just dog training tools.

When it comes to training the dog with hand signals, there are no clear standard hand signals for dog obedience training. Though there are some hand signals which are commonly used by dog trainers but there are no specific ones that have been created.

So, the good news is that if you are training your dog and you are using a different hand signal for a certain command than someone else, both of you would be ok as soon as you are consistent and your dog can understand what you are trying to tell him.

When it comes to dog training tools, things are a little different, because most of these tools come with standard instructions that the owner just need to follow.  Just remember do not use tools that are used for small dog training on large dogs, or vice versa.
